R&D Implementation scheme (SMART)
Funded by European Regional Development Fund.
The activity is funded under Measure 01.2.2-LMT-K-718 ‘Targeted Research in Smart Specialisation Areas’ (Funding instrument - European Regional Development Fund). Measure implementation is managed by the Ministry of Education, Science and Sport of the Republic of Lithuania and the Research Council of Lithuania
The purpose of the measure is to implement research projects intended to develop results compliant with R&D relevant for economic sectors and that could subsequently be commercialised.

Eligible Applicants: Research and studies institutions, Universities included in the Open Information, Counselling and Guidance System AIKOS as well as University Hospitals.
Eligible Partners: Legal entities operating in research that have in the course of previous 12 months prior to the submission of application been engaged in R&D activities.
The project must be consistent with the operating plan of at least one of the priorities under the programme on the implementation of priority research areas and (social, cultural) development and innovations (smart specialisation) and their priorities approved by Resolution 411 of April 30, 2014 of the Government of the Republic of Lithuania.

Maximum eligible costs per project is € 700 000.
Project implementation costs:
- Personnel costs of PI and research group (unit costs).
- Travel allowance (EU countries only) (unit costs).
Indirect and other costs according to the flat rate:
- Research implementation costs.
- Indirect costs (project administration and related costs).
Expected output:
- Patent application.
- Other research production in accordance with the specific Smart Specialisation Priority.
