Conference in Brussels discusses how to build a better science and science policy ecosystem in Europe

On 10-11th of October in Brussels, Belgium, the Lithuanian RDI Liaison Office (LINO) in Brussels, the European Commission's national contact points (NCA), and science and innovation advisors participated in the "Science for Policy in Europe" conference, which brought together experts to discuss how to build a better ecosystem for science and science-based public policy in Europe.
The conference brought together policy makers, science advisors, researchers, science ethicists and professionals from their represented fields to discuss: what are the future trends, challenges and opportunities for science-based public policy making? How can we build stronger science-based policy institutions, networks and ecosystems in Europe? How can we develop the competences and skills needed for effective "science-based" mechanisms? How can we improve policy-making?
It was agreed that public policies should be based on the best available scientific knowledge and direct evidence, which increases public confidence in the decisions taken. This confidence is crucial in today's global political and societal challenges.
