dr. Liutauras Kraniauskas

Member at the Committee of Humanities and Social Sciences of the Research Council of Lithuania since 2015

In 1991, started studying sociology at Vilnius University and in 2002 obtained the Doctorate Degree in Social Sciences in the field of sociology. In 1998, started working at the Klaipeda University Institute of Sociology, where he continued his scientific career. Currently, Head of Klaipeda University Centre for Studies of Social Changes.

Scientific interests include sociology of the social sciences, history of sociology, urban sociology and the study of subcultures. Often invited to various Lithuanian universities to lecture on subculture studies.

Liutauras Kraniauskas has accumulated his expert knowledge by evaluating scientific and other types of project proposals funded by the European Science Foundation, the European Cooperation for Science and Technology (COST), the Centre for Quality Assessment in Higher Education, the Research Council of Lithuania and the Lithuanian Council for Culture. 1998-2009, acquired administrative experience by working in the public sector, i.e. at Klaipeda City Municipality Administration, where he was responsible for the development of international relations and tourism.

Active participant in the operation of the Lithuanian Sociological Society and, since 2008, Member of the Executive Council. Since 2016, Editor-in-Chief at the academic journal Sociology. Thought and Action (Lith. Sociologija. Mintis ir Veiksmas).
