dr. Jolanta Šinkūnienė
Member at the Committee of Humanities and Social Sciences of the Research Council of Lithuania since 2018
Linguist and docent at Vilnius University Institute of English, Roman and Classical Studies of Faculty of Philology.
In 2011, successfully defended the dissertation ‘Hedging in Written Academic Discourse: a cross-linguistic and cross-disciplinary study’ and received a Doctorate Degree in Humanities. 2012-2014, Postdoctoral Research Trainee at Vytautas Magnus University Faculty of Humanities. During the traineeship, she prepared the scientific study (K1b) ‘The Features of the Lithuanian Humanities and Social Sciences Discourse’.
Fields of scientific interests: semantics, pragmatics, discourse analysis, corpora linguistics, interlinguistic and interdisciplinary features of scientific texts, processes of publication and peer-review, research evaluation, construction of scientific identity.
Jolanta Šinkūnienė is an active participant in national and international scientific activities and is the coordinator and participant of various projects. Jolanta is leading a group of junior researchers at the COST Action CA15137 on Research Evaluation in the Social Sciences and the Humanities. The group aims to define the influence of evaluation on the future careers of junior researchers in the humanities and social sciences fields and to define other relevant problems and challenges, which junior researchers face.
The researcher is Member of various international and national science associations, including Societas Linguistica Europaea, European Association for Teaching of Academic Writing, International Pragmatics Association, European Society for Study of English and Lithuanian Applied Linguistics Association.
Jolanta Šinkūnienė has published scientific and science promotion articles in international and Lithuanian publications, she is a member of editorial boards for science periodical boards and has expert experience.
