Member at the Committee of Humanities and Social Sciences of the Research Council of Lithuania since 2018
Graduated from Kaunas Medical Institute as a Physician and from Vytautas Magnus University with a Master‘s Degree in Psychology. Continued his scientific career at the Laboratory of Medical Psychology and Sociology Research of the Institute of Cardiology at the Kaunas University of Medicine. In 1999, received the Doctorate Degree in Biomedical Sciences (medicine psychology dissertation ‘Relation between Psychological Behavioural Factors and the Myocardial Infarction Development among Middle-aged Men, 25 Years of Data’). Lectured at Kaunas University of Medicine. Since 2001, Lecturer at Vytautas Magnus University; since 2006 Docent; since 2015 Professor.
Supervisor of ‘Psychosocial Individual Analysis and Psychological Development Opportunities in Organisation, Educational and Health Institutions’ by a VDU research cluster; Head of Committee for the VDU Health Psychology Master’s Programme and Member of the Research Committee for the Joint VDU-MRU Psychology Doctorate Programme.
Scientific interests and work are in the following fields: psychosocial stress of various social groups (children, adults and higher education students), its characteristics and opportunities for its management; psychological factors in disorder development; effectiveness of intervention in changing unhealthy behaviour in psychological disorder practice; characteristics for positive perception of body image and eating behaviours.
Supervised 3 successfully defended doctoral dissertations, former member of doctorate defence committees at various Lithuanian universities, in 2010, noticed for academic honesty by the National Union of Student Representations of Lithuania (LSAS).
