prof. dr. Paulius V. Subačius
Graduated in Lithuanian language and literature. A lecturer from 1992, currently a professor of the theory of literature at Vilnius University, a member of the University Council. Full member of the Lithuanian Catholic Academy of Sciences. Author/editor of seventeen books on literature, history, textual scholarship, and academic politics. Among them – are the first “Guide on Textual Scholarship” in Lithuanian and several critical editions, printed and digital, of diaries, letters, sermons and poetry of Lithuanian authors. Published some articles in English in “Variants”, “Editio”, “Textual Cultures”, “Politeja”, and “Filologia XXI”.
A member of international organisations of philologists and historians, was a board member of the European Society for Textual Scholarship (2004-2014). Was an expert of the Research Council of Lithuania and Lithuanian Council for Culture, Chairman of the Lithuanian Radio and Television Commission (2011-2013), Chairman of the Coordination Council of the Centre for Educational IT (2010-2012), Member of the Council for the Protection of Ethnic Culture (2009-2013), Consultant to the Minister of Education and Science (2008-2012), and held other positions in governmental and advisory institutions.
